About JETAA

JETAA is a voluntary organisation that provides a network for the alumni of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme. We help promote the programme and its aims and continue to further the case of Anglo-Japanese relations in the UK.

North West

Otsukaresama deshita! Whether you’ve just returned from Japan last year, or many moons ago, JETAA NW wants to provide all former participants of the JET Programme with a variety of social and professional networking activities throughout the year.

We will start out with a few social activities, piggy backing with Japan Society North West's monthly meal and conversation evening. And depending on your interests, we can develop events that cater specifically to your needs.

In today’s tough economy, job related events may be what you’re looking for. We can draw on the massive resource that is fellow JET participants to come up with creative and informational meetings to help in your career development. No matter what field you’re interested in, I’ll bet there is a former JET already working in that industry who can provide some insight into their field.

If you’re looking to recapture that fresh feeling of arriving in Japan, stumbling upon an unknown restaurant or bar, or just exploring an unfamiliar area with new friends, JETAA NW can provide the people and energy for that! I spotted a Korean BBQ in Manchester that I’d love to check out for some yummy yakiniku. And there are so many “Japanese” restaurants popping up that surely we need an experienced group of sushi samplers to check them out!

No matter the type of event, big or small, from day trips to Japanese gardens, to nabe parties in someone’s home, JETAA NW wants to help organize, participate in, and possibly even provide funding for your event.

If any of these activities sound interesting to you, or if you have some ideas for events that fellow JET Alums might enjoy, please get in touch! JETAA NW is here to serve you and we need your input to make sure you’re getting the most out of the organization!

The Chapter covers: Cheshire, Lancashire, Manchester, Merseyside and Wirral.
