The music and dance of Japan's Konkokyo religion (founded 1859) combine elements of gagaku court music, Shinto dance, popular koto music, classical dance and Noh. To celebrate their 150th anniversary, they are offering a free concert at SOAS. Aside from a sample of their ritual music, they also offer a dance piece based on the Tale of the Heike and another relating to cherry blossoms and love.
No admission charge. Alas, no advance booking of places is possible, and Room G2 has only 139 seats, so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
