JETAA Japanese Classes

Neil Taylor 19 May 2010 21:34

JETAA UK is seeking to establish Alumni Japanese Language Courses or participate in existing courses run by Cactus Language Training. The company already runs ten week courses at different language levels in London. It is proposed that a subsidy could be provided to former JETs who wish to join one of these courses.

The company also has centres in Bristol, Cardiff and Manchester, although Japanese courses are not currently run at these locations. Should there be sufficient demand at a particular level, we would explore the viability of running subsidised courses at these locations.

At this stage, it would be really useful to gauge the level of interest for the courses in the different locations. If you are interested in taking part, please post a message below stating which location you are interested in studying.

This is just to get a rough idea of numbers - so don't worry you are not committing at this stage. Once we get an idea of numbers we will provide further information of course dates and prices so that people can confirm if they are still interested.

Alastair Locke 21 May 2010 08:18

i'd be interested in classes in london. a course like that offered by SOAS to help prepare for the JLPT 1 & 2 would also be really helpful.

Caroline Shilcock 21 May 2010 08:47

Very interested in classes in London, particularly for JLPT 2 preperation.

Jenny Davidson 21 May 2010 09:27

Yes very interested to attedn classes in London. Beginner/Intermediate (it's been a while since I was in Japan!).

Jenny Chan 21 May 2010 09:47

Depending on the price, I'd be interested in classes in London. I'd be looking at just above san-kyu level, though it's all a bit rusty so may need a lower level.

Henry Ridgwell 21 May 2010 10:24

Interested in a JLPT 2 preparation course in London

Jennifer McQuady 21 May 2010 10:49

I would also be very interested in a JLPT 2 preparation course in London.

Marilyn Chee 21 May 2010 10:50

I would be interested in classes in London.

Fran Bigman 21 May 2010 11:16

I would be interested in a JLPT 1 Course and/or a JLPT 2 refresher - it's been 7 years! - and general advanced intermediate reading/speaking classes.

Fran Bigman 21 May 2010 11:18

Sorry, I should have said I'd be interested in a JLPT 1/advanced intermediate course in London or Cambridge.

Matthew Billson 21 May 2010 11:23

I'd be interested in high JLPT 3 / 2.

Andrew Hancock 21 May 2010 11:33

I'd be interested in a course for preparation for the JLPT N3 in Bristol. There's a real gap in higher levels of Japanese courses in Bristol. I enrolled in the highest level evening course being run at the university but it was too easy for someone who's spent 2 years in Japan. The only option left to me was private tuition which is very expensive!

Josephine Audigier 21 May 2010 11:36

If we have enough people for an advanced class, then I would like to join it in London

JLPT lvl 1 prep course would be good, but so would a class on advanced business Japanese.

Jamie McLaughlin 21 May 2010 11:43

I'd be very interested in a class in London.

Alexandra Fisher 21 May 2010 12:04

I'd be interested in beginners/intermediate in London.

Elaine Stoneham 21 May 2010 14:10

Price dependent, I'd potentially be interested in classes in London. Ideally ones that are tailored to take you from rusty beginners to yonkyu.

Peter Sutcliffe 21 May 2010 16:51

I'd definitely be interested in an advanced course in London. I'm planning to take up a course of some sort anyway so subsidised courses would be brilliant.

Rebecca Fisher 22 May 2010 13:02

I'd be interested in classes in Bristol...

Emma Slawinski 22 May 2010 14:39

I would be very interested in an 1-kyu preparation course, or an advanced business Japanese course in London.

Neil Taylor 22 May 2010 16:39

Thanks for the posts. Most of the interest seems to be in London and Bristol so far. We will leave this post running a bit longer and then make a decision on the best way to move forward with this.

Many Thanks,
