A Meiji Mystery - new novel by former JET
| Deborah Mantle 06 Apr 2012 13:13 |
After participating in the JET programme (Hyogo 1990-91), I couldn't get Japan out of my system. Ten years post-JET, I returned to work in schools and universities in Hiroshima, Kyoto and Yokohama. Much of the time I was balancing teaching with writing fiction and non-fiction. JET alumni may enjoy reading my new novel 'A Meiji Mystery': Thirty-four year-old historian Peta Hansen must solve a century-old murder with roots in feudal Japan to understand why someone is threatening her in modern-day London. She must stop the escalating intimidation before history repeats itself and there’s another death — her own. With ‘A Meiji Mystery’, I tried to write the kind of book that I like to read – a blend of mystery, romance and friendship, with an intelligent and independent female protagonist, a dash of Japanese culture and a touch of humour. 'A Meiji Mystery' is available as an e-Book via AmazonUK and Amazon.com. At the moment it can only be purchased as a paperback through Amazon.com, but should available (fingers crossed) via AmazonUK in a few weeks. And JET alumni interested in Japanese nature and wildlife might want to check out my blog (http://www.naturewritingnotes.blogspot.com/) which features articles I wrote for the Earthbeat column of 'Kansai Time Out'.
