Recent weeks have seen the departure of this year's intake of JET Participants from the UK. A total of 195 British participants were selected to go to Japan this summer to work as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs). This year's intake is a similar level to that in 2010 when 193 participants were selected.

Prior to their departure, JETAA hosted local pre-departure events and a Question and Answer session for new participants and their parents. A 2011 Farewell Reception was also hosted by the Embassy of Japan in London on 5th July. At the reception Ambassador Hayashi expressed his hope that this year’s group of JET participants would be “a source of particularly great encouragement and inspiration to the people they will be working with“.

As new JET participants settle in to their new homes and communities in Japan, JETAA welcomes home returning participants to the UK. Local chapters will be organising events in the coming months to help those returning reintegrate back into life in the UK. You can find out more information in our Events section. Upcoming events include the JETAA London Pub Night (4th August) and JETAA Scotland's Soical Night (5th August).

Our website also has a regularly updated Jobs section, with over 100 positions (many related directly to Japan) advertised in 2011 so far.
