Former JET, Richard Deighton, is presently working for a national charity called businessdynamics (www.businessdynamics.org.uk), the educational, charitable trust of HRH The Duke of York. They go into schools and colleges around the country and help UK school students learn about business and enterprise.
Businessdynamics is a registered charitable trust funded by the Learning and Skills Council and corporate sponsors such as Barclays Bank PLC and PWC. For more information, please look at our website.
Many former JETs would have a lot to offer UK school students. Not only do perhaps many of you have a range of personal business and work experience of great interest to young students, not least the JET experience, but also a lot of 'enterprise' qualities. It takes a lot of personal qualities to up sticks and fly off to Japan for a year or two!
Businessdynamics offer training and invitations to networking events. A chance to tell students about work and of course the JET programme! There is free training prior to the event and a chance to meet a wide range of people from all different kinds of businesses and industries, from corporate employees to managing directors. Of course it's also a chance to get back into the classroom for a an hour or a day!
They are presently organising an event based around the BBC TV series 'Dragons Den' in Croydon over the 16th and 17th of November. If any JETAA members would be interested in more information about participating in this or future events, please do not hesitate to contact Richard on www.businessdynamics.org.uk, deighton_@btinternet.com, 07914 377655.
