One year on from the devastating earthquake in North-East Japan, ALT Hannah Sumpter has shared her perspective from Fukushima prefecture as people try to rebuild their lives. Originally based in Litate, a village of 6,500 which was evacuated because of high radiation levels in the Fukushima exclusion zone, Hannah reflects on the challenges faced by the local population over the last year. She observes the new friendships that have been made and support for the villagers from the rest of Japan and further afield. You can read her full article on the Embassy of Japan website here.
