The Japan Matsuri will be held in County Hall this year on Sunday the 18th of september so they are already busy with preparations. The event is almost entirely organised by volunteers who dedicate their expertise and time to make it happen.
This is a particularly important year for the matsuri because of the Tohoku Earthquake. We were all shocked with the disaster itself and the unprecedented impact in every aspect of Japanese communities. There was a mood of voluntary restraint in celebration activities but we have decided to continue holding the event —the Matsuri (festival) is always celebrated, even when times get hard!
As this is the UK's largest Japan related festival we plan to offer various performance activities and exhibitions suitable for people of all ages, but we need your help!
