Ekiden to Come to the Cotswolds

The beauty of the Cotswolds will meet the Orient in a new running race on 3rd September 2017. The Cotswold Ekiden brings together the best of Japanese culture and tradition.

Taking place at the beautiful Sudeley Castle in the heart of the Cotswolds, the relay race involves each participant running in a team of four on a 5.5km route, which is undulating and predominantly off-road. It is suitable for runners of all abilities, offering stunning views of the Cotswold hills and Sudeley Castle.

Teams will consist of running clubs, businesses, universities and social runners. If runners are unable to get a full team together we will be able to help. The race will represent all that is great about Japanese ekiden races.

The event offers food and drinks (hot and cold), toilets and free parking next to the race hub. There will also be Japanese-inspired entertainment. The castle and gardens will be open on the day (subject to an entrance fee). All runners will have chip-timing and will receive a t-shirt and medal on finishing. Winner’s prizes will be available. Other ideas to make this a unique event are being organised, and news on these will follow.

You can keep up to date with news and further additions to the event by going to www.rnrpursuits.com and subscribing to an email update. If you wish to enter please go to www.entrycentral.com/cotswoldekiden.

We are committed to establishing ekiden events throughout the UK, and aspire to catering to as many different types of runners and communities as possible. We are offering a one-off opportunity for all JETAA members to enter at the reduced affiliated price of £11 per runner.
