People & Operations Manager

A Japanese architecture company is recruiting a People & Operations Manager to join its growing UK business. The role oversees finance, HR, administration and office operations while supporting the continued growth of the UK subsidiary. It works closely with the headquarters in Japan, external partners and the UK leadership team to build efficient operational processes. The ideal candidate has experience in business operations, office management or HR operations, together with a business level of fluency in English.

Main responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the UK office. Develop and improve operational processes and internal workflows. Coordinate finance operations including invoice processing, expenses, budgets and financial reporting. Support HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration and employee records. Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation, GDPR and company policies. Liaise with external accountants, legal advisers, payroll providers and other business partners. Support the leadership team with operational planning, reporting, meetings and company events.

Ideal candidate

At least 4 years’ experience in operations, office management, business administration, HR operations or a similar role. Experience working within a start-up, scale-up or high-growth environment. Experience supporting finance and HR functions. Strong organisational and project management skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Business level of fluency in English. Japanese language ability would be an advantage.
